Concrete language is used to in this piece to explain exactly WHAT is happening to the National Parks, and the writer gives examples of the before and after effects of the roads. This is effective coming from this writer in particular because he works in the National Parks and he has experienced the changes and the particular effects they have brought about.

I agree. I the abstract writing in the piece makes you more passionate about the situation and then he swoops in with the facts of what is happening and makes the reader understand in a deeper sense.
